19th Century Knit Lace Bonnet

A 19th century knit lace bonnet or cap, of fine cream-color thread, edged with knit lace in a pale, faded blue.

The ties are ribbons of knit lace about 1 inch wide, and about 13 inches long.

The bonnet, folded, measures about 8 inches from the edge of the bonnet to the center back. From the center top to the tie edge is about 7 1/2 inches. Another 1 1/4 inch of lace forms the edge.

See additional pictures for condition and details of the lace.

ConditionConditionpadThere are a couple of small mends. See the case history on this website for the mending of one of those holes.

There also are a couple of very light stains -- see pictures under lace knit details.

They are relatively unobtrusive, and the bonnet is very usable, supple and wearable.
