The back medallion is a handmade made bobbin lace applied to a handmade vrai droschel mesh. Two types of tallies or wheatears were used: the square shape shown here, and the fine pointed wheatears shown in the "repairs" picture. These both would be consistent with English Honiton bobbin lace. Vrai droschel was sometimes used with early 19th century Honiton.
