Round Centerpiece, embroidered and embellished with rice or coronation cord.
Popular at the turn of the 19-20th centuries, a slubby cord known variously as rice or coronation cord, and perhaps other names as well, was used to quickly and dramatically embellish embroideries.Couched or stitched to a white fabric, the cord instantly imitated heavy padded satin stitching.
Excellent condition; a few broken threads. About 15 3/4 in diameter.
