Tiny fern-like swirls along the straight bottom edge suggest a Napoleonic laurel wreath. Mesh is dotton with four-petal florets. Ethereal soft and supple lace dating to the end of the eighteenth century, perhaps the turn of the nineteenth.
Good condition, slightly antique white, with a few tiny holes dotting the otherwise reselient and supple mesh.

Characteristics of handmade Mechlin include distinctive mesh, consisting of two four-strand braids and four sides of twisted pairs. Pattern is surrounded by slightly heavier "gimp" thread.
