Great illustration of the difficulty of applying labels, and why many museums put descriptions rather than names with their lace pieces.
John Yallop in his book on Honiton lace seems to make an arguement that this might be very early Honiton. The background of Droschel mesh put in at odd angles might suggest a Bath Brussels label, with the Belgians perhaps shrieking that the workmanship is English rather than Belgian. All good fun and a great study example of the great mysterious labrynth that is lacemaking history.
