Mending suggests this was a much-loved and much-worn piece of exquisite whitework. Very poor condition, but a good illustration that the weight of the dense embroidery combined with the pulled thread work was just too much for the delicate, transparent fabric to support. In spite of the condition, it still can serve as an inspiration and illustration of remarkable 19th century embroidery techniques. About 10 inches long, about 5 inches deep.
